Knockout schedule

Appears: Once brackets exist

What this section does

Knockout rounds can't have fixed times — each round starts when the round above it finishes. So the ladder computes a "not before" time for every round from the round above, and times print as not before: floors, not appointments. Set the inputs, press Generate all knockout times, and hand-edit the exceptions.

The ladder — each round’s computed “not before”, with pins and lawn sets per round.

Event defaults

  • Knockouts from / to — the fallback date range for brackets (each bracket defaults to running after its blocks finish).
  • Time per game — minutes per game in the ladder maths.
  • Min rest between matches — the gap a player is guaranteed between knockout matches.
  • Buffer between rounds — slack added between one round's expected finish and the next round's "not before".
  • KO day start / KO day end · latest start — the knockout's own daily window.
  • Round length assumesfull best-of (safe) budgets every match going the distance; typical match (tight) budgets a typical length. Safe never overruns but spreads the day; tight finishes earlier but can slip if matches run long.

Per bracket

Each bracket has its own runs date range (defaulting to the day its block play ends), a final goes 1st/2nd/3rd/4th choice — where this final sits in the closing order, so the Championship final can be the last game of the event — and This knockout uses: its own lawn pool, or all lawns. Brackets fed by another bracket show the ⛓ link.

The ladder

The grid lists each round — matches, format → longest possible length, not before, lawns. Per round you can pin a day and time (the cascade still wins if it needs later), set a start by cap ("the semifinals must be underway by 2pm"), and restrict the lawn set. A Courts — tap two matches to swap strip sits under each bracket's ladder, and the Courts & times panel takes one-off per-match edits — date, time, lawn — saved with its own button. The read-only knockout grid filters to one competition, bracket or round.

Generate all knockout times / Re-generate all knockout times rebuilds the computed floors; pins and per-match edits are how you make exceptions stick.

Gotchas

Tell players "not before" means exactly that — a match may start later than its floor, and the round after a quick semifinal may start well before anyone expects. The public page and printouts carry the not before wording for you.
