Team knockouts

What this section does

Knockout setup holds the ties that follow block play in a team event: the Championship knockout, a Plate, and placement ties (9th/10th and the like). Each is a stage with its own bracket of test matches, numbered with its own prefix (T1, T2 … for the first stage, U1 … for the next) so that "Winner of T1" is unambiguous across stages.

Adding a stage

Add a stage with a name; its type — Main, Consolation / Plate, Placement or Z games — is a label for displays, except Z games: those tests are scored and kept like any other, appear on the public event page under their own Z games view only, count in no table or statistic, and a team that plays only Z games is not listed as a competitor. A single test match between two teams (a 3rd/4th play-off, a relegation tie) is a stage with two seeds.

Seeds

The seed list, in order, is what the bracket is drawn from — seed 1 meets the last seed first, per the standard sequence. Each seed names where that side comes from:

  • Block position — a block and a finishing place ("Block A 1st"). The side stays a label until the block result is known.
  • Team — a team outright.
  • Winner/loser of a test — another test's result, by its number ("W T1", "L U2"). Used for placement ties fed by earlier knockout tests.
  • Label — free text, for anything the other kinds don't express.
  • Bye — an empty slot; the opposing seed advances without a test.

Generate tests

Generate tests draws the bracket from the seed list and creates its test matches, each with the competition's test match format (or the stage's own, where one is set). Regenerating replaces the stage's tests and is refused once any rubber in the stage has a score.

Filling the sides

  • Fill from block results resolves the "Block A 1st"-style sides. A finishing rank the manager has ruled (the finishing-order control on the standings) is used first; where none is set, the computed block table decides. Run it when block play is complete.
  • Winner/loser feeds fill themselves. When a test with a number is decided, every side reading "W" or "L" of that number gets the team the moment the Scoring tab next loads. A drawn tie advances nobody until the manager rules a winner on it (the Test result control).

Scores for knockout tests are entered on the Scoring section like any other test — team sheets, rubbers and concessions all work the same way. See Test matches.
